Primary treatment is accomplished via a tank, or series of tanks, often referred to as a “septic tank”. A septic tank is an underground vessel which must be watertight in order to properly function. They are made from durable materials resistant to corrosion or decay. Common materials are concrete, plastic, or fiberglass.
The main purposes of primary treatment are:
- Solids separation (called scum and sludge)
- Solids retention
- Solids storage
- Flow modulation
- Provide clarified effluent for dispersal or further treatment
Many of our distributors offer septic tanks as part of their portfolio of solutions. Please contact them for assistance. Read more here.
